Preface

Welcome to wiby.me - Greatest Hits! I have compiled a list of some really cool sites I found while using wiby. But real quick, what is Wiby? Wiby, or wiby.me, is a search engine gathering older styled websites that have that mid 90's, early 2000's look to them, i.e., simple HTML pages with minimal CSS and/or JavaScript.

Why is this important? Well, before the world wide web was greatly saturated by commercial sites, it was really easy to find personal websites created by ordinary people about subjects they are passionate about. The real fun about the Internet was learning stuff that you didn't think about learning in the first place. Now with modern search engines, this doesn't happen anymore. Sure, they are good for finding answers for specific questions. But the explorative nature of searching the net is harder than ever, especially due to advertisements and sponsored links putting sites that corporations pay big for you to see first. And with Gen AI taking the stage on search engines as of late, finding reliable information and interesting sites have gotten harder than ever.

As for the minimalist HTML design requirement, this helps older web browsers or computers still be useful and browse the Internet without running into a modern site with heavy CSS and JavaScript clutter (like I'm doing for my site!). And even if you're on a modern browser and system, these pages load super fast too, cutting down on bandwidth and system resources by loading a ton of scripts!
